People are so interesting
A person who was once a criminal,
Is now a model citizen!
A drug addict suddenly becomes
As well as those extreme examples
There are millions who improve daily without notice!
But just how does a person improve?
It is not an act of intellect,
That makes people change for the better,
But it is actually an act of the will,
For intelligence without courage,
Is as static as courage without intelligence is rash!
This is the formula to change.
A person that stops smoking for example,
Does so by the act of the will.
His mind tells him “this is a bad habit,”
I.e. his intelligence has informed him.
It takes a significant amount of time however,
For the power of the will to kick in.
Then that once unbreakable habit,
Has suddenly disappeared!
It fades away and disappears!
Turning on the will to do so, and make this happen,
Takes enormous courage indeed.
The secret to happiness = Freedom.
And the secret of freedom = courage.
When we break bad habits in our lives,
We free ourselves to that degree,
The more bad habits we remove,
The more free we become!
Habits that make us happy, keep!
Habits that destroy us, remove!
What a new face courage puts on everything!
